Gas Safe Register
The gas safety register is the only register in the UK of all the people that are qualified to work on gas appliances. Gas appliances when not installed correctly and not maintained correctly have the potential to be incredibly dangerous. This is why it is a legal requirement to have a service on all Gas appliances every year. Carbon monoxide has no smell and is colourless. This is the gas given off when natural gas is burnt. It is incredibly dangerous and is known as the silent killer.
Every gas engineer will carry a gas safe registration card. This card should be on them at all times and is unique to the engineer. It will have the engineers photo on the front and the qualifications that the engineer has passed the back of the card i.e. boilers or pipe work. You can phone the gas safe register to make sure the engineer is who they say they are and if you feel at all unsure about the work done. The gas safe register will send around an inspector to cheque all the work has been done correctly and safely.
